Check My Computer

Minimum Requirements

Screen resolution
Your screen needs to have a minimum resolution of 800x600.

Scripting-enabled browser
Older browsers are not able to interpret scripting (such as JavaScript and VBScript). Our computer checkup uses both scripting languages to check that you have the proper software, and our courses use JavaScript to open new windows and set properties of the windows. More than likely your browser is a later version and scripting-enabled.

Software

Flash Player
The Flash Player enables you to view content created using Macromedia Flash. Many of our courses were created using this product, so you will need the player to view them. If it is not installed on your computer you will be prompted to go to Macromedia’s site and download it. The process is automatic and usually easy to complete. However, if you are using MS Internet Explorer your settings need to allow you to download and run ActiveX controls on your computer. You may have security settings that do not allow this.

Features

Scripting enabled
Though newer browsers are able to interpret scripting, many allow the user to disable it. If scripting has been disabled, you will need to enable it to use our e-courses.

Popup Blocker
Some browsers allow you to block popup windows. All of our e-courses launch in a new, popup window. Either turn your popup blocker off or hold down the "Ctrl" key when you select a link to launch a course. If you are using Windows XP, you can add http://training.jhu.edu to your Trusted sites list to allow popups.

Trusted sites
Some browsers allow you to designated a site as a "trusted" site. This puts the site in a lower security category than other Internet sites. If you are using Windows XP, you should add http://training.jhu.edu to your Trusted sites list.
