The University's goal in offering educational assistance is to provide its faculty and staff and their families with a broad range of educational opportunities, and to provide the institution an opportunity to train and develop its faculty and staff while equitable sharing costs.
Educational assistance is funded through the University benefits pool. The funds in the benefits pool come from an assessment, which departments pay in the form of a benefits rate. For every dollar that a department pays faculty or staff in salary, the department also pays a certain percentage, which is determined each year, to a central benefits pool.
Funds from this pool are used to support all benefits provided to faculty and staff. These benefits include medical and life insurance, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, dental plans, retirement plans, etc., as well as educational assistance plans.
The following is a summary of the educational assistance programs that are available. Please click on highlighted text for specific information regarding each plan.
